Recognizing an EMERGENCY and raising an early alarm along with administering CPR whilst using automated external defibrillator (AED) to shock the heart are some of the skills required to save lives. Anyone who is witnessing a person in cardiac arrest, stroke, choking or even a person who is unresponsive, must be familiar with the SEQUENTIAL STEPS and the necessary skills to save that life.

Early access to emergency care; early CPR; early defibrillation; and early advance care are just a few of the links in the chain of survival. People witnessing the emergency are as important links in the chain of survival as the coordinated network of community professionals; firepersons; police; paramedics; telephone operators; who provide the emergency care. Here at Step Alive we take great pride in teaching and preparing you with the necessary skills that will ensure the best possible outcome for any individual struck with any life threatening emergency.

REMEMBER every year 20,000 Canadians experience a sudden cardiac arrest. Less than 5% of out of hospital cardiac arrest patients will actually survive. DO YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO IF YOUR friend, relative or a coworker is affected with such calamity? Permanent brain damage begins to occur within 4-6 minutes of being without oxygen. CPR is a critical intervention that can be safely administered by all members of public and can keep the person alive till the professional help arrives. The use of a defibrillator (AED) within 10 minutes has brought the death rate down by 80%, but how many people out there can confidently use AED?

A course in first aid; Emergency First Aid lasting 8 hours will TEACH you the SEQUENTIAL STEPS to administer CPR to infants, children and adults; how to use AED as well as learn simple methods of interventions in critical minutes after an accident, for deadly bleeding, shock, burns, poisoning or overdose, etc., you will be provided with a First Aid manual within the set price and upon successful completions awarded a Canadian Red Cross certificate that can benefit you also in gaining all that important job.
